How Home Infrared Saunas Work
Home photon-to-sweat cascade in 5 steps — why home sessions feel easier than Finnish heat
Infrared is radiant home heat — like sun warmth without UV. Home panels emit far-infrared absorbed superficially, warming home blood that circulates deeper, raising core ~1–2°C and triggering home sweat response at only 120–150°F air.[1]
Home 5 steps [edit]
1) Emission — home heaters emit ~7–14µm far-IR. 2) Absorption — home skin absorbs superficially. 3) Circulation — warmed home blood flows deeper. 4) Core rise — home core +1–2°C over 10–15 min. 5) Response — home heart-rate rise, vasodilation, sweat, heat-shock proteins, endorphins.[1] Most of that response is heat stress itself rather than the specific wavelength hitting home skin.[4] Clinicians keep the load modest: Dr. Melissa Young of the Cleveland Clinic describes a sauna session as “like walking at a moderate pace” and “a meditation session, just warmer”.[3]
